A geophyte up to 700 mm tall with grass-like leaves. Small, shiny, pale to deep mauve flowers in clusters of 2 or 3. Tepals curl back to expose the conspicuous yellow and deep purple banded stamens.
Flowers in November and December - to March. Occasional on sandstone slopes.
Occurs from Namaqualand to Stutterheim.
