Widespread shrub to 3 m, with narrow, simple leaves 10-15 mm long.
Often with cone-shaped galls. Grows along the river.
Flowers: male: stamens 15-20; female: receptacle c. 1.5 mm long, subcylindrical, obscurely striate, apical opening as wide as receptacle.
Flowering time: Jan-Apr.
Widestpread along rivers and on moist sandstone flats and lower slopes from the Kamiesberg and Bokkeveld mts to KwaZulu-Natal.
